Ron joined SHAES in 1989 and has served as Executive Director (Chief) since 2008.

Ron has certifications as a Paramedic, Firefighter 2, Fire Officer 3, holds an Associate degree in Fire Science and is a State of Michigan certified Fire Instructor.

Ron’s grandfather, Anthony Frucci, was chief of the Niles Township Fire Department. His father is still a member of the Niles Township department at the age of 81. His twin brother Don is a Captain with the Niles City Fire Department and an older brother, Robert, is a police officer in South Bend.

Ron's reason for joining the fire service: “Following in the footsteps of my dad and grandpas, I wanted to see what it was like and got hooked right away. I came to South Haven because I could do both fire and EMS as a career in one department.”

Ron's most memorable experience as a firefighter: “Getting to work many fire scenes together with my father and both brothers during my time with Niles Township.”

When Ron isn’t working he enjoys fishing, camping and spending time with his family.
